Put Pantone’s Color of the Year into your space
Classic blue has been all the rage since Pantone named it Color of the Year for 2020 back in December. Blue is an easy color to incorporate into any section of the home because it’s so versatile (and pretty)! To help you best utilize this year’s Color of the Year, I’ve highlighted some ways you can add that classic blue touch below.
#1 - Don’t be afraid to experiment with color and lighting.
Paint and decorations aren’t the only way to add some color to your home. Lighting gives you a way to completely change the atmosphere of the room if you’re willing to experiment with it! Adding a blue lampshade or light can add a nice, subtle tone to the room, and it instantly makes you feel like you’re at your favorite spa. Blue string lights could also add a calming touch to your bedroom or porch – pair them with white or gold string lights for an elegant feel.
#2 - Knickknacks are important.
An easy way to incorporate classic blue is by throwing in a few decorative items here and there. There’s no need to redecorate your entire home, just buy a few blue items to scatter around. Consider buying a few blue vases or flowers to add cool tones to your bedroom or living area. You could also add a few household items that boast the hue like a kitchen mixer or containers to your home.
#3 - Consider repurposing home items.
Upcycling has grown in popularity in recent years, so why not use it to your advantage? By restoring old items around your home with a fresh coat of blue paint, you save money and the environment. Take that old dresser or vanity and give it a new look with a fresh shade of blue.
#4 - Add art with a splash of blue in it to your home.
Another way to feature more blue to your home decor is through paintings, of course. They’re a great way to add character and color to areas where knick knacks and furniture just won’t suffice. Consider adding this framed oil on paper from my portfolio, or one with cool tones to keep the calm feel consistent throughout each room. Blue hues and tints in art are sure to make your home feel cozy and classic, no matter the time of year.
With blue being a soothing color, adding more calming effects to your home is never a bad decision. Have questions or ideas you want my help with? I offer free consultations. Just give me a call at 901-409-7870.
