Artist and owner of Sue Layman Designs honored by St. Jude

September 26, 2019

Since 2015, St. Jude has honored an exclusive group of women during its St. Jude Gold Luncheon dubbed Women of Distinction. Those selected are role models and leaders who give back to their community through work, family, philanthropy or a mix of all three! Above all, the honorees are committed to supporting the fight to end childhood cancer.

St. Jude named 18 Women of Distinction earlier this month, including our very own Sue Layman Lightman! The group gathered with event sponsors, ALSAC Executives and fellow honorees to enjoy dinner, cocktails and remarks from ALSAC Chief Development Officer Sue Harpole. The following day, more than 200 guests packed into the Domino’s Event Center on the St. Jude campus to support the 2019 class at a luncheon that included a panel discussion. WMC-TV anchor Kontji Anthony hosted the panel, posing questions to Olympic swimmer and Memphis native Gabrielle Rose, St. Jude patient mother Paula Head and FedEx Global Citizenship Manager Rose Flenorl.

I feel so humbled and honored to stand alongside this year’s impressive women who make up the 2019 Women of Distinction class,” Sue said.

As a local abstract artist who uses kid-friendly colors and whimsical shapes, Sue hopes her artwork brings joy to all St. Jude patients and their families who view her original paintings. To check out Sue’s abstract artwork, head on over to her portfolio or shop for prints. If you don’t see the painting you want as a print, just let us know by emailing suelaymandesigns@me.com! Sue can special order a print of any painting for you.
