2017: A look at what’s to come for the artistic world

February 06, 2017

2016 came and went in the blink of an eye! One thing we can all count on for 2017 is new trends. From fashion to décor and of course, artwork, a new year means changing trends and special finds.

Everything marble and acrylic was the major décor trend of 2016. So far, we can definitely count on fur being a HUGE decor trend for 2017. Fur ottomans, fur chairs, fur seating benches… everything FUR, and I’m not complaining one bit. Another trend that has everyone giddy is glass pieces, and I mean anything glass – desks, nightstands, display containers, picture frames… the list goes on and on.

There’s also a new color on the scene! Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year is Greenery – “nature’s neutral” (Pantone 15-0343) – a beautiful green described by Pantone as a “fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first day of spring.” As if its being a beautiful color wasn’t enough, Greenery is an instant mood lifter as well—very Zen. This hue is calming and pairs with just about anything, including brights, neutrals, deeper shades and pastels. It even makes a soothing combination with Pantone’s 2016 color, Rose Quartz. Sounds amazing, right? It is.

How are you going to showcase this year’s new trends? I can’t wait to get my hands on a new fur throw and use a little more ‘greenery’ in my upcoming paintings!
